Dear Members and friends,

It is this time of the year again were we will have our Ricard Open 2012.  Our main sponsor open tournament will be a select triples format this year.  As usual this tournament is open to everyone who would like to play pétanque and we will have sets of boules to lend available on a first come first served basis. Also, if you do not have partners to form a team, please come and we will try to match you up with others looking to form a team of 3 players.

Of course you will have the ability to order food for lunch through the new menu exclusively available to us made by Le ptit’ Paris . Price for Super size Sandwiches and Super salads: $8. 

 

Please come on time to enjoy this great day of pétanque. Registration starts at 9:30 and play at 10:30.
There will also be a shooting contest all day!

Hi Guys,

The NYPC season opener will be this coming Sunday with a SINGLE Tournament. We want to start easy to make sure that we will finish the season strong!!

As usual sandwiches and drinks will be available for purchase for your convenience.

Also if you want to show us your skills the French TV will be here to record it. The crew is here to make a documentary.

And since they told us they are lucky, we should be ok with the weather!

Unfortunately our upcoming NYPC season opener will be compromised this coming Saturday.

The weather forecast is not looking good and we don’t want you to go back home all wet (Precip 70%)

We will therefore postpone this first tournament and reschedule for a later date.

What a great time we had for the last tournament of the season. The weather was sunny and well into the 60′s all day.

We decided to dedicate the last tournament of the season to all our sponsors that are a great help to put tournaments together. More importantly, the players who show up regularly during the year are what makes the club and the sport keep climbing.

For that last tournament more than 26 people showed up early for that doublettes carousel.  Everyone got to play with a different partner during the first three games. Only the best 8 would qualify for the playoffs.

Also some people showed up during the afternoon to play in the consolante and some pick up games.

A special mention will go to Kebir, Nounou and Mohammad who came from Boston for the occasion. You guys deserve a big high five. See you in Amelia Island!

In the end the winners that go home with prizes were;

Emile who won the shooting contest and got home with a brand new Nespresso coffee machine!

Mohammad and Dave K finished 4th of the main tournament.

Jeannot and Charly were 3rd.

Emile and Philippe finished 2nd.

And the winners were Joel and Ernesto!

In the consolante part Steve, Bruce and Bill finished 3rd.

Lucien, Paul and Rafique landed 2nd.

And the winners of the consolante were Nounou, Bert and Yngve!

Hello NYPC members and friends,

On Sunday October 23rd, 2011 we will have our last tournament of the year, a Triplette Carousel with many prizes!

The Star Masters New York Pétanque Club wants to thank its sponsors through this tournament.

We will also run a precision shooting contest during the day. The first prize will be a Nespresso coffee machine (value estimated at $250) and the second will get two bottles of Armagnac Chateau de Laubade.

Our president, Jean-Pierre Subrenat, was followed by journalists for a couple of days of his life including pétanque of course!

UPDATE : Because of  the hurricane Irene that will touch New York this weekend we have to cancel this tourney. The tournament will take place the following Saturday September 3rd, 2011.

Hello NYPC members and friends,

Timing problems forced us to change this Sponsor Day tournament (which will now take place on October 16th).

Instead, we will have a Select Doubles Tournament with medals and $$ prizes.

We will also run a precision shooting contest the whole day. New format: 1 boule in the middle of the circle to shoot from 6,7,8 and 9 meters, and again from 6 and 7. Total 6 boules for a maximum of 33 points (if you shoot 6 carreaux it will be 30 points plus a bonus of 3 points because you did not miss a boule. Boule shot and out of the circle 3 points. Nothing else.)

$5 will buy you 6 boules to shoot and you can buy as many times as you want. We will select the top four shooters for a 6 boules semi final and final before the Doubles’ final. $100 to the winner.

The weather forecast states we should be fine under the big trees.
