Almost ready to kick off…
As most of you know already, some members (Xavier and JPS, not to mention them!) of NYPC have been negotiating with the City of New York, since a couple of years, to obtain ample space to play our sport. Finally, late last year, we were offered a wonderful space in Brooklyn, in Prospect Park, at Parade Ground.
While waiting for this nasty winter to go away, our team went back to work and finalized the paperwork with the management of Prospect Park. We are pleased to announce that we have mutually signed a five year agreement with the city, and that such agreement is renewable. Pétanque now has a permanent home in New York, and for at least 16 courts.
We are now waiting for the final building permit, and as soon as it is received, our contractors will start work. Construction should take 4 to 5 days and we are forecasting completion for mid-May
As soon as the courts are playable, we will inform each of you for an informal kick-off party. A more formal one with city officials and major sponsors will be planned later on in the year.
Before the official party, we will call upon you to help make your home courts as nice as possible.
Because, as a (now) famous person said last year: “Yes we can”!
